A look at blogs
While there are a variety of dental blogs out on the internet, the below represent some of the most creative, popular, and trusted. One of the strongest attractions of dental blogs is that they often incorporate the perspectives of professionals delivering dental care as opposed to detached discussions of oral health, insurance, and emerging dental treatments. Some of our choices are provided by well-known organizations like the American Dental Association (ADA) and others are just engaging and thoughtful content.
Working backwards from bottom to top, here are my present picks for the top 10 dental blogs.
Ask the Dentist is your classic ‘nuts-and-bolts’ dental blog providing consumers with oral health guidance. It also contains content targeting dentists such as book reviews as well as overviews on current dental research (e.g. the safety of hydroxyapatite toothpaste).
This blog showcases the insights and perspectives of dental assistants and is considered a ‘must read’ for those in the profession. Dental assistants not only provide important dental services within a practice but are often more engaged with patient relationships than the dentist running the practice.
On the opposite end of the age spectrum is “Homecare Dentists” blog. The practice serves patients who have difficulty leaving their homes, particularly seniors with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Blog posts include topics from “Could dentures be right for you?” to “Dental Care Tips for Caregivers.”
