Dental Insurance Maximum Benefit

A maximum benefit, otherwise known as an annual limit or annual maximum, is the dollar value indicating the spending limit on insurance payments for covered dental care during a year. If a dental plan has a maximum benefit of $2,000 then any dental costs exceeding $2,000 during the plan year is paid by the patient even if the dental service is covered by the insurance plan.

The dental costs that count toward the maximum benefit reset each year, so if the patient’s dental policy begins on January 1st then the dental plan spending counted toward the maximum benefit resets to $0 at the beginning of each new year.
