Approved Amount

The approved amount is the portion of a dental bill that a dental plan will pay. If it is a covered dental service delivered by an in-network dentist whose cost is within the allowable charge, the amount charged to the dental plan will likely be paid in full.

In some cases, a dental insurance company may not pay all of the billed amount due to factors such as a service being uncovered, a deductible not being satisfied, or a maximum benefit being surpassed.
